Boy steals from adoptive mother

SIBU: A 16-year-old boy suspected of stealing his adoptive mother’s jewellery from their house at Mile 11, Pasai Bon was arrested Tuesday night.

The incident came to light when the woman discovered that her two gold necklaces and a gold ring were not in her safety case at home.

She estimated the missing items to be worth about RM6,000.

She lodged a police report when the suspect refused to come clean upon being questioned by his adoptive father.

After interrogation, the suspect led the police to a pawnshop in Maju Road at about 11am yesterday where he pawned the jewellery for only RM1,800.

It was said that the suspect used the money to pay his debt at a mechanic’s shop.
