Group Kills Father Searching For Son

BINTULU: A man who was out looking for his son around midnight yesterday was killed in an attack by a group of five to 10 men near the night market here.

The victim was identified as 38-year-old Nual Mata, a tractor driver for an oil palm plantation in Sebauh. Nual originally came from Suai.

Bintulu police chief Supt Madang Usat confirmed the case and that the victim was looking for his son when he was attacked.

“During the search he was suddenly attacked by a group of men and sustained severe cuts on his face, believed to be caused by a blunt object,” he told reporters yesterday.

Madang said a 25-year-old man was arrested in a village nearby around 2.30am, while another five suspects were caught around 2pm.

The motive behind the attack has yet to be established. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. - BORNEO POST
